Choosing Tiles for Traditional Cast Iron Fireplaces
Although they have been used in fireplaces since Georgian times, fireplace tiles achieved widespread popularity during the Victorian era. Fireplace tiles slot into holders on each side of the cast iron fireplace opening, and are purely decorative features. Fireplace tiles are easy to fit, but once the cast iron fireplace has been installed it is difficult to change the tiles. The tiles are fitted to the back of the cast iron insert or combination fireplace before it is attached to the wall, and you would have to remove the fireplace from the wall in order to change the tiles at a later date.
